/signed. I'm especially prone to the fiery phoenix of Egyptian lore. That aura better be huge, and I mean HUGE. Other players would have to turn off their post process effects just to be able to see it.

Updated the idea to include Prophecies end-credits area.
Also added poll.
Since we know that they are going to make some minor additions to the game, this one would sure ROCK. And since all the animals I mention would use already existing models and sounds, they would be quite easy to add. The main problem would be the quests for the level 20 ones, since the Phoenixes would just spawn in the End-credits areas.
Each region would have its phoenix and we'll be finally able to tame the Moss Spider.
For the other three level 20 pets, I specially like the Black panther (actually a melanistic leopard), the baboon and the wild boar.
We have warthogs, but not wild boars. Why not? Everyone loves wild boars!

Unlocking pets for PvP would also be nice. People bringing in their PvE pets sometimes don't pre-prepare them to have maxed level, and it looks boring to see everyone with Elder Wolves.
Pet uses outside synergy with RaO would be appreciated too, while we're at it.

Great idea and it shouldn't really take that much work to impliment it.
Ok could delay GW2 by an hour maybe 2 I add that before all the replies saying NOOOOOOH don't do it keep working on GW2 etc etc.
As for the idea about companions doing other than physical damage yes to that too.
When they were Normal creatures leaving exploitable bodies etc it would be unusual now they are basically sending from a god special damage could be possible.
A pets presence wouldn't depend on having a skill present they would be around all the time we would be feeding and house training them etc.
So either skills to do special damage or a pet token for it to wear that changes damage wouldn't be unreasonable.
Ranger spirits do it already so why ever not.

I would also consider that in order to get the legendary pet one would have to charm all types of charmable pets in that region.

/signed... for the most part at least. wild boar=warthog in my eyes. i dont see the problem in having a pet that does elemental damage... its like an fds or a fiery gladius, why not? I like the idea of a Fenrir mini pet. I hate how luxons dont have a black moa-style minipet. Why the discrimination Anet? I also dislike the simian idea, theyre too humanlike to be pets. It'd be cool to have special minipets for each Reigon, maybe like a quest completion-type deal. Complete all non-repeatable quests in a reigon and unlock a solo instance to charm a pet.
one for fow and doa would be cool too.
We need a stable for out pets Anet! also to display individuals in Hom.
Ascalon- Black Hound
N.Shiverpeaks- Kodiak Bear
Kryta- Skeletal Hound
Maguuma- Moss Spider
Crystal Desert- Black Basilisk
S.Shiverpeaks- Yeti or something
Rof- Infernal Hound/ Lizard (fire damage)
Endgame- Dragon Infant (like a mini Glint)
Shing Jea- Blue Heron
Kaineng- Imperial Hound
Echovald- already has one
Jade Sea- Turtle OR Serpent
Endgame- already has one
Istan- Hippo
Kourna- Camel
Vabbi- Panther
Desolation- Skeletal Moa
Realm of Torment- Margonite Hound (wolf reskinned like a margonite)
Endgame- Firey Phoenix
Far Shiverpeaks- Fenrir
Charr lands- Great Raven
Tarnished Coast- Baby Tyrannus
Endgame- Destroyer Hound (wolf reskinned like a destroyer, fire dmg)
Uw- has one
Fow- Shard Wolf
Doa- Mallyx Jr.
doesnt have to be quest based, but maybe elite quests you have to complete to get them. pm me if you agree with my ideas.

Well, to get the legandary pets you would have to either make a series of quests or finish the campaign (or get to People Know Me for the Eye of the North Phoenix).
So that should be enough.
